Drew Barrymore spoke to Oprah Winfrey about her battles with motherhood as she tries to raise 4-month-old daughter Olive away from the spotlight.

The interview is the first time ever that Drew Barrymore has opened up her home she shares with husband Will Kopelman to cameras, and it’s only fitting she did it for her neighbor.

Oprah Winfrey and Drew Barrymore both own homes in the posh Santa Barbara, California enclave of Montecito.

“In Drew’s backyard swing,” Oprah Winfrey posted on her Twitter account last week.

“Just discovered we live less than 2 miles from each other.”

Drew Barrymore talked about how she plans to shape her new career as a mother as well as troubles with her own, whom she didn’t invite to her wedding in 2012.

“She was not there, which was very hard,” the actress said.

“We both discussed it and thought it would be best to keep her away from the ceremony.”

Drew Barrymore and her mother had a tumultuous past, anchored mostly in Drew’s rebellious childhood in which she started abusing drugs and alcohol from an early age.

She had her first drink at 9, began smoking marijuana at 10, and took cocaine at 12.

Drew Barrymore had multiple stints in rehab in her early teens and at 15, she moved into an LA apartment on her own after being granted an emancipation decree from her parents.

Oprah Winfrey asked Drew Barrymore specifically what she could learn from her childhood – a question that brought the star nearly to tears.

“As a kid what I craved the most was just believing that [my mom] was going to be there,” she said.

“I think the world offers so many wonderful varieties of obstacles, but that shouldn’t be one for kids – is the worry that <<my parents won’t be there>>.”

Oprah Winfrey also asked her about how she plans on telling her daughter about her own series of missteps – especially in the world of Google.

“I will absolutely instill in her that you cannot be ashamed of the journey that it took to get where you are if you are proud of yourself.

“But I will also try to instill on her that I did not have guidance and that is why I lived my life that way.”

Drew Barrymore continued, with the most telling bit of advice: “There is no option for her to take that path because she has guidance.”

The full hour long interview is set to air on OWN on Sunday.

Drew Barrymore has intoduced baby daughter Olive to the world on the cover of People magazine.

In an accompanying interview with People magazine, Drew Barrymore, 37, said she was not prepared for how much her life would change once she had a baby.

The actress said: “I couldn’t eat or sleep for two weeks, I was just so nervous! You have the highest highs and yet you’re facing the biggest fear of, <<How do I keep someone alive?>>”

But with the help of her husband Will Kopelman, Drew Barrymore was able to provide a loving and nurturing home for her baby to be brought into.

She added: “I really wanted a wonderful traditional home for my kid. Will comes from a strong family, he provides a strong family … It just makes me so emotional because it’s like a miracle.”

Drew Barrymore recently revealed the meaning behind Olive’s name, telling Ellen DeGeneres during an interview that she and Will Kopelman came up with the name after reading a baby manual.

Drew Barrymore revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show how she chose her daughter’s name when she was the “size of an olive”.

Drew Barrymore, 37, and her husband Will Kopelman welcomed their daughter Olive into the world 10 weeks ago and the actress has revealed she was inspired to pick the moniker when she was in the early stage of her pregnancy.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Drew Barrymore said: “I never would have guessed that would have been the name.

“But I was reading a book with my husband. I was three months pregnant and they said your baby is the size of an olive, and that was it. We never looked back.”

Ellen DeGeneres then joked: “It could have been the size of a peanut or a grapefruit.”

Drew Barrymore replied: “It could have been. It was a lot fruit and vegetables.”

The actress did consider a number of names, but as soon as they thought of Olive, they didn’t deliberate anything else.

Drew Barrymore explained: “We were shopping a few [names] as all people do who are so blessed to get to do this. And then once the light was shed, there was just no turning back.”

Drew Barrymore has been the face of CoverGirl for the past five years, but now she is rumored to be launching her own cosmetics brand.

According to WWD, Drew Barrymore, 37, has created a line of make-up exclusively for Walmart, which will hit stores across the U.S. early next year.

The name of the beauty collection remains unknown.

It is believed that Drew Barrymore’s contract with Procter & Gamble, CoverGirl’s parent company, comes to an end in 2013, although a spokesman for the company declined to give an exact date.

However, sources say that she has been working on her own line with one of the world’s leading cosmetics manufacturers, Intercos.

When she signed as a CoverGirl ambassador in 2007, Drew Barrymore said that she wanted to “bring myself and my personality into it, as well as some edgy fashion-forward thinking and positivity to it.”

Drew Barrymore’s usual makeup look is very subtle. Perhaps we can expect rosy shades of blush, neutral eyeshadows, along with darker lip colors.

This would be her first time venturing into the world of celebrity beauty marketing, following the likes of the Kardashians, Kate Winslet and Dita Von Teese.

Drew Barrymore has never even had her own fragrance.

Drew Barrymore was spotted over the weekend enjoying a family day out in Los Angeles with her husband Will Kopelman and their one-month old daughter Olive.

Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman have welcomed their first child into the world, a little girl called Olive.

Drew Barrymore was hardly known for being lucky in love, having had two divorces by the age of 27, but it seems she has finally found domestic bliss.

Having married Will Kopelman in June, the pair are now proud parents to their newborn daughter who was born towards the end of last month on September 26.

A spokesperson told Life&Style: “We are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, born September 26th, healthy, happy and welcomed by the whole family.”

Despite Drew Barrymore growing up in the spotlight, kick-starting her career in a commercial at 11-months, the statement added: “Thank you for respecting our privacy during this most special time in our lives.”

Drew Barrymore began dating Will Kopelman, an art consultant and the son of former Chanel CEO Arie Kopelman, in early 2011, before announcing their engagement a year later and eventually marrying in June.

Drew Barrymore, 37, walked down the aisle heavily pregnant in a private Jewish ceremony at her Montecito estate in California wearing a custom Chanel gown, designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

And it seems Drew Barrymore may have found inspiration from a former role when naming her little girl.

Back in 1999, the California native loaned her vocals to the title role in a CGI animated Christmas television special called Olive, The Other Reindeer.

Other stars aboard the ship included Dan Castellaneta – otherwise known as the voice of Homer Simpson – and R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe.

The tale follows a young Jack Russell Terrier called Olive (Barrymore) who thinks she has what it takes to save Christmas after Santa cancels his annual flight because of a hurt reindeer.

Fellow celebrities to name their child Olive include Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher, and former Doctor Who actor David Tennant and wife Georgia Moffett.

Drew Barrymore formerly wed LA bar owner Jeremy Thomas in March 1994, before filing for divorce less than two months later, and Canadian star Tom Green in July 2001 – separating just five months later.

Drew Barrymore certainly achieved something “tasteful and timeless” for her wedding day in her stunning Chanel wedding dress as she exchanged vows with new husband Will Kopelman last weekend.

Pregnant bride Drew Barrymore looked gorgeous and glowing in her muslin and organza gown, which featured a skirt embroidered with tulle flowers, feathers and a black belt to accentuate her growing tummy.

In the first official romantic snap for People magazine, art director Will Kopelman is seen tenderly cradling her baby bump as she smiles and near nuzzles into her new husband.

Drew Barrymore’s dress was accessorized with Chanel Fine Jewelry, including a pair of Fils de Camelia 1.42 carat diamond earrings and a 14 carat white and black diamond vintage Eventail cuff.

The bride wore a traditional veil and carried a bouquet of flowers featuring cherry blossoms, pink peonies, pink garden roses and pink spray roses.

The wedding was held at Drew Barrymore’s $5.7 million Mediterranean style mansion in Montecito, California.

“The day was perfect,” she gushed to People magazine.

“Everyone we love and care about was there. It was fun and meaningful as we could ever have hoped.”

Drew Barrymore’s father died several years ago, and she was walked down the aisle by her father-in-law, former Chanel CEO Arie Kopelman.

“[She] looked gorgeous, completely relaxed and beautiful,” a source said of the pregnant bride.

“She was radiant.”

The vows were exchanged under a rose and lace adorned Chuppah in a traditional Jewish ceremony.

Drew Barrymore’s best friend and rumored bridesmaid Cameron Diaz reportedly read the pregnant bride E.E Cummings famous poem, I Carry Your Heart With Me, which she also famously recited in the hit 2005 movie In Her Shoes.

Wedding planner Stephanie Cove said that the romantic day was “special”.

“Everyone was so happy for them,” Stephanie Cove said.

“The way Drew and Will looked at each other was just so special.”

The couple’s reception was said to be very food-orientated, and included gourmet appetizers such as lobster rolls, pork buns, foie gras on pink peppercorn shortbread, and steak tartare with quail egg.

Meanwhile the formal dinner was more family-style, and included fried chicken and steaks, People magazine reports.

After partying the night away, guests were once again treated to more treats from some food trucks, before the couple left the reception to stay the night at nearby ranch.

In a limo on their way to their first night as a married couple, Drew Barrymore, 37, and Will Kopelman looked like they just couldn’t wait to be alone as husband and wife.

The actress, who is heavily pregnant with the couple’s first child, couldn’t wait to share an intimate moment with her new husband as they both tenderly leaned in for a kiss as they were picked up from the ceremony.

As well as Drew Barrymore’s best pal Cameron Diaz attending the wedding, Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth, Busy Phillips, Jimmy Fallon and his wife Nancy Juvonen were all on hand to join in the celebrations.

And all of them had been present at a rehearsal dinner the day before.

Will Kopelman proposed to Drew Barrymore during a holiday in Sun Valley, Idaho, in January.

The marriage is Drew Barrymore’s third, after she was wed to Welsh bar owner Jeremy Thomas between March and April 1994 and comedian Tom Green, who she married in July 2001, but filed for divorce from before the end of the year.
