Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius was not wearing his prostheses when he broke down a door to reach Reeva Steenkamp after he shot her, his murder trial has heard on the eighth day.

The forensic evidence contradicted Oscar Pistorius’ claim that he was wearing prosthetics at the time.

The door has been brought into court to be examined during the murder trial.

Oscar Pistorius denies intentionally killing Reeva Steenkamp on February 14 last year, saying he fired after mistaking her for a burglar.

A replica of the toilet in which Reeva Steenkamp was shot has been also brought into court.

The court will hear forensic evidence on the location of shooter, the grouping of the shots and their trajectory.

Cross-examining, Oscar Pistorius’ defense team asked the forensic expert to kneel on his knees and lift his feet, which caused him to wobble.

The defense team claimed that Mr Pistorius therefore would not have been able to balance on his stumps and break down the door using a cricket bat.

The prosecution witness argued that if Oscar Pistorius, 27, was balanced enough to fire a gun, he could also break down a door with a bat.

The trial is now halfway through its second week, and is expected to feature over 100 witnesses.

Earlier on Wednesday, a friend of Oscar Pistorius claimed that the star had driven at 124mph and that he had taken a picture of the speedometer to prove it.

The defense team alleged that Darren Fresco was himself driving at the time and had therefore fabricated evidence.

The state is seeking to convince the court that Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp, a 29-year-old model, and reality TV star, had an argument before the athlete fired the shots that killed her.

On the seventh day of Oscar Pistorius trial in Pretoria, his defense team has questioned a pathologist’s finding that Reeva Steenkamp had eaten less than two hours before he killed her.

This contradicts Oscar Pistorius’ account that he and his girlfriend had been in bed for several hours before the shooting.

On Monday, Oscar Pistorius vomited as he listened to the medical testimony.

Oscar Pistorius, 27, denies intentionally killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp and says he mistook her for a burglar.

Dr. Gert Saayman said Reeva Steenkamp had been shot three times, in the head, hip and arm but that he did not know the order of the injuries.

If she had been shot in the hip or arm first, screaming would have been expected, he said.

Neighbors have previously said they heard a woman screaming but Oscar Pistorius’ defense lawyers argue that the athlete was the only one who screamed.

When pressed by defense lawyer Barry Roux, Dr. Gert Saayman said that there could be an error of “an hour or two” in his estimation of when Reeva Steenkamp last ate.

Judge Thokozile Masipa has ruled that Tuesday’s post-mortem examination testimony could be tweeted but not broadcast live.

The judge had banned live twitter coverage of Monday’s testimony because of its nature.

Double-amputee Oscar Pistorius vomited in court while a pathologist testified at his murder trial on Monday.

A bucket was placed in the dock before Professor Gert Saayman, who carried out an autopsy on the Paralympic champion’s slain girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, took the stand.

Earlier the judge banned all live broadcast of the autopsy evidence.

Pathologist Gert Saayman successfully argued that broadcasting the details of the report could compromise the “dignity of the deceased”.

Reporters at the scene said Oscar Pistorius was seen “breaking down, loudly gagging, retching” as Gert Saayman spoke and later he threw up.

The Paralympic champion, on trial for murder, denies intentionally killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Oscar Pistorius fired four shots at Reeva Steenkamp through the bathroom door. He says he mistook the 29-year-old model and aspiring lawyer for an intruder.

Gert Saayman used the following arguments to persuade Judge Thokozile Masipa to ban broadcasts of his autopsy report:

  • “Very personal nature of the findings”
  • “Details of the injuries have the potential to compromise the dignity of the deceased”
  • It may “harm the rights” of friends and family of the deceased
  • “Goes against the morals of society”

The judge also banned coverage of the details of the autopsy report through Twitter and other social media.

The British Columbia Coroner’s office told UsWeekly that they “definitely” will not have toxicology and autopsy reports for Cory Monteith on Monday.

As for when the reports will be released, the Coroner’s office said: “We might well have an update tomorrow, but final cause of death might be several days or even a couple of weeks after that.”

According to E!, the results were going to be fast-tracked “due to intense public interest”.

Michael Jackson autopsy report given in a Los Angeles court yesterday has revealed the King of Pop tattooed his lips pink, permanently inked his eyebrows and relied on a dark tattoo to blend his hairline into his wig.

As Michael Jackson’s tour promoter, AEG, continues, a disturbing photograph of the fallen pop star’s corpse was shown to the court on Monday by Dr. Christopher Rogers.

His coroner’s report described Michael Jackson as a man whose struggle to hide a skin pigmentation disease forced him to mask his true features but who would have lived a long life had he not overdosed on propofol.

The revelation of Michael Jackson’s permanent make-up comes during the trial brought by the singer’s mother and children who claim AEG shares blame in his death for neglecting to vet and supervise his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray.

AEG, which was organizing Michael Jackson’s planned comeback concerts in London, claims it was not responsible for the star’s decision to employ Conrad Murray as his doctor.

Dr. Christopher Rogers confirmed from his autopsy that Michael Jackson’s skin became lighter in the 1980s owing to “vitiligo, a skin pigmentation disease”.

He added: “So some areas of the skin appear light and others appear dark.”

The doctor also confirmed that an overdose of propofol killed the pop star although several other types of sedative administered by Dr. Conrad Murray the same morning contributed to his death.

Michael Koskoff, a lawyer for Katherine Jackson, asked the deputy medical examiner for Los Angeles County: “Would a fit, competent doctor administer propofol for insomnia?”

“I would not expect that, no,” Dr. Christopher Rogers responded.

Los Angeles coroner’s toxicologist Dan Anderson also testified on Monday that the level of propofol in Michael Jackson’s body was “consistent with major surgery anesthesia”.

Propofol, a sedative used in operations and even executions, was allegedly taken so often by Michael Jackson that he referred to it as “milk”.

Dan Anderson told the court: “It raises a red flag in my eyes. It’s very problematic to find it outside the hospital setting.”

He went on to explain how when propofol is administered to a patient, a number of staff should be on hand equipped with sophisticated medical devices to intervene if the patient stops breathing.

Faced with suggestions that Michael Jackson gave himself the lethal dose of propofol, Dr. Christopher Rogers countered: “…based on the history that was available, I don’t believe that that happened.”

Furthermore, he testified, were it not for the lethal dose of the drug, Michael Jackson’s overall health would have promised him a normal lifespan.

With no signs of addiction to street drugs, or any heart disease that some have insinuated triggered his death, “there was no indication from the autopsy that there was anything anatomically wrong with him that would lead to premature death”, Dr. Christopher Rogers said.

CNN noted the importance of Dr. Christopher Rogers’ testimony in calculating Michael Jackson’s expected lifespan as it would relate to damages. If he had not passed, the fact that the pop star would have continued to make billions of dollars will affect the number the Jackson family expect.

AEG continue to argue that Michal Jackson chose Dr. Conrad Murray as his tour medic and the company had no way of knowing what he was giving the singer to sleep at night.

An explosive new coroner’s report reveals Natalie Wood was likely beaten aboard her yacht before she went overboard and drowned in 1981, it was claimed today.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s examination of Natalie Wood case also found flaws in “every major” finding of the previous autopsy report that led medical examiners to rule the Hollywood star’s death an accident.

It’s the latest step toward settling the question of whether Natalie Wood was murdered, or whether she accidentally fell overboard on her 60-foot yacht and drowned – as the original police investigation concluded.

The new coroner’s examination asserts that bruises found on the actress’ wrists, knees, and ankles were consistent with her being beaten – not, as the 1981 report concluded, caused by her struggling to climb back aboard to yacht after falling over the side, CBS News reports.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s report has not been made public yet, but CBS reports that sources say the document will poke numerous holes in the original autopsy reporting and the ruling that Natalie Wood’s death was accidental.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives reopened their investigation in 2011 after the captain of the yacht claimed that Natalie Wood’s husband, Robert Wagner, was with her right up until she went overboard.

Her death was ruled “accidental” at the time, but in 2012, the coroner changed the ruling to “undetermined”.

Robert Wagner told investigators that Natalie Wood, who could not swim, must have fallen in the water when she got up to try to retie a dingy that had been knocking against the side of the yacht.

An explosive new coroner's report reveals Natalie Wood was likely beaten aboard her yacht before she went overboard and drowned in 1981

An explosive new coroner’s report reveals Natalie Wood was likely beaten aboard her yacht before she went overboard and drowned in 1981

Her body was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.14 percent, nearly twice the legal limit for driving. She was also found to be under the influence of a motion sickness medication and a painkiller, which likely increased her level of intoxication.

Her body was found floating off Catalina Island, near Los Angeles, several hours later.

The captain of the yacht, Dennis Davern, claimed that a fight had broken out between Robert Wagner and actor Christopher Walken, who was also aboard to yacht.

He said that after Natalie Wood went to bed, he heard the fight continuing in her cabin, including sounds of a physical struggle.

Dennis Davern claims Robert Wagner waited several hours after his wife disappeared to call authorities.

Natalie Wood, 43, burst into child stardom in 1947 playing little Susie, the girl who didn’t believe in Santa Claus, in Miracle on 34th Street. Natalie Wood later starred as Maria in 1961’s West Side Story and was nominated for an Oscar for her role opposite James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause.

Robert Wagner, now 82, admitted he had a fight with his wife on the night of November 29, 1981, but said she was not in her cabin when he went to bed.

He maintains he had nothing to do with her death, though said he feels personally responsible for not looking after her.

However, Dennis Davern reportedly offered an alternate explanation for Natalie Wood’s death. Lana Wood, the actress’ young sister, claimed to author Suzanne Finstad that Dennis Davern called her and drunkenly confessed that Robert Wagner allowed his wife to drown.

“He said it appeared to him as though [Robert Wagner] shoved her away and she went overboard. Dennis panicked and [Robert Wagner] said, <<Leave her there. Teach her a lesson>>. Dennis said he was very panicky that he was sitting and [Robert Wagner] kept drinking and kept drinking.

“And he’d say, <<Come on, let’s get her>>. And he said [Robert Wagner] was in such a foul mood, at that point, that he then shut up and was waiting for when, when are they gonna go to her rescue, until all the sound stopped,” Lana is heard telling Suzanne Finstad in recordings make for her 2001 book Natasha: The Biography of Natalie Wood.

Lana Wood continues on to say that Dennis Davern did not think that Robert Wagner meant for Natalie Wood to die but he did not “run to her aid”.

“Even if he did not kill her, which is what I understand the guy’s saying, it was – you know, that it – it was an accident,” Lana Wood said.

A never-before-seen autopsy report has revealed that The Notorious B.I.G. was shot in the “chest, shoulder, leg, forearm and scrotum” on the night of his murder.

According to the document obtained by TMZ, The Notorious B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was shot four times during the drive-by which took place on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles in 1997.

The hip-hop artist, who was listed on the autopsy as 6ft 1in tall and weighing 395 lbs, had been sitting in the passenger seat of a Chevy Suburban when the shooting occurred.

However, while the rapper was hit four times, three of the shots proved not to be fatal.

Christopher Wallace was first shot in the left forearm, with the bullet traveling down to his wrist, before the second shot struck him in the back – narrowly missing his vital organs before exiting through his left shoulder.

And the third shot entered through Christopher Wallace’s left thigh, before leaving on the other side of his leg. Referring to the third shot, the report reads: “The projectile strikes the left side of the scrotum, causing a very shallow, 3/8 inch linear laceration.”

It was the fourth shot which proved fatal, as it hit Christopher Wallace’s heart, liver, colon and part of his left lung when it entered through his right hip, before settling around his left shoulder.

A never-before-seen autopsy report has revealed that The Notorious BIG was shot in the chest, shoulder, leg, forearm and scrotum

In the years since The Notorious B.I.G.’s murder, a number of theories have emerged, including the suspicion that police officers were involved.

However, former Los Angeles police chief Bernard Parks, who was in charge of the force at the time of the shooting, called claims of a cover-up “absurd”.

Nobody was ever charged in connection with the death, but it was widely blamed on a rap war between the East and West Coast.

Six months before the shooting, West Coast rapper Tupac Shakur was killed by a gunman in Las Vegas in another murder that has never been solved.

Detectives have investigated claims that the two shootings could have been linked.

Raised in Brooklyn, Christopher Wallace started selling drugs at the age of 12 and served nine months in prison before going on to sell more than seven million records.

Edward Archbold from Florida choked to death in October after eating dozens of live cockroaches in a contest to win a python, his autopsy report has revealed today.

The body of Edward Archbold, 32, tested negative for drugs and Broward County medical examiner ruled the death was an accident caused by “asphyxia”.

Edward Archbold collapsed and died soon after the promotional event at a pet store in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

No other illnesses were reported among some 30 competitors.

Edward Archbold died of “asphyxia due to choking and aspiration of gastric contents”, the Broward County medical examiner’s office found, according to the Associated Press.

His airway became obstructed with “arthropod body parts”, the Miami Herald quoted medical examiner Craig Mallak as saying.

The grand prize for the contest winner was a python, and Edward Archbold had planned to sell the snake to a friend, according to the owner of the Ben Siegel Reptile Store.

“We feel terribly awful,” said Ben Siegel, the owner, said after Edward Archbold’s death.

“He looked like he just wanted to show off and was very nice,” he said, adding that Edward Archbold did not appear to be ill before the competition.

A lawyer for Ben Siegel said all the contestants had signed disclaimers “accepting responsibility for their participation in this unique and unorthodox contest”.

The mysterious drowning of Natalie Wood on November 29, 1981, has been much speculated since her death.

Though it may never be clear what happened in the waters off Southern California’s Santa Catalina Island, TMZ reports that Natalie Wood’s death certificate has been changed from “Accident” to “Undetermined”.

TMZ reports that they were told by members of Natalie Wood’s family that L.A. County Sheriff’s Department detectives informed them of the change earlier today.

The family members were told that while Natalie Wood’s cause of death was irrefutably from drowning, they said that it is unclear how the actress got into the water.

The day the actress died, Natalie Wood was spending time with husband Robert Wagner and actor Christopher Walken both on Catalina Island and drinking on the yacht.

Robert Wagner said in the 1981 autopsy report that his wife “was not suicidal”.

He has dismissed suggestions that the actress’ death was anything other than an accident.

Natalie Wood’s death certificate has been changed from “Accident” to “Undetermined”

Natalie Wood and fellow actor Robert Wagner were married twice, first in 1957 before divorcing six years later. They remarried in 1972.

Her death during the Thanksgiving weekend in 1981 has long sparked tabloid speculation that foul play was involved. Rumors were reignited by author Marti Rulli, whose book, Goodbye Natalie, includes a fresh account of the incident by the yacht’s captain, Dennis Davern.

Dennis Davern has come forward to say he lied to investigators in the wake of the tragedy, and suggests Robert Wagner ensured the investigation was not as thorough as it could have been.

Asked on the Today show if he thought Robert Wagner was responsible for Natalie Wood’s death, Dennis Davern replied: “Yes, I would say so. Yes.”

“We didn’t take any steps to see if we could locate her. I think it was a matter of: <<We’re not going to look too hard. We’re not going to turn on the searchlight. We’re not going to notify anybody right now>>.”

“I made terrible decisions and mistakes. I made mistakes by not telling the honest truth in a police report.”

In a dossier on the case Dennis Davern and Marti Rulli have now sent to police, they claimed there was “a drastic delay” in calling for help after Natalie Wood went missing.

“There are many, many things that should be examined, but mainly the four-hour wait to call for the coastguard,” Marti Rulli said on CNN.

Dennis Davern maintains that, after the stand-off between Robert Wagner and Christopher Walken, husband and wife went to their state room, from which the skipper heard sounds of a heated argument and “thumping”.

Later, Dennis Davern went back on deck to be told by Robert Wagner that Natalie Wood was missing, along with the yacht’s dinghy.

Natalie Wood’s body was found hours later, floating in an upright position, her eyes fixed and open, her spectacular, long, dark hair trailing along the surface of the water. She was wearing a flannel nightgown, red down jacket and blue woolen socks.

Meanwhile, caught up in seaweed in a cove not far away was the missing dinghy, its oars in place and the key in the ignition in the “off” position, suggesting she had never made it into the boat or, if she had, had quickly fallen out.

Robert Wagner apparently thought she might have been heading for the shore, where there was a bar, or gone party-hopping to one of the other rich people’s boats moored nearby.

Later he suggested she had not been trying to leave the yacht at all, but that she had heard the dinghy slapping against the side of the boat and had gone to secure it more firmly, only to fall in.

Police concluded that the two dozen bruises on her body, including cuts on Natalie Wood’s face, were sustained when she fell overboard and struggled in the water.

The 911 call made following the discovery of Whitney Houston’s body at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 11 has been released.

Whitney Houston drowned in her bath tub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at the age of 48 in what was later reported to be brought about by a drug overdose.

In the 911 call recording obtained by TMZ the caller identifies himself as a member of the Beverly Hilton security team and informs the operator about a “46-year-old female found in the bathroom” and requests for paramedics to come immediately to the scene.

“I’m not sure if she fell or if she was in the bathroom with the water,” he adds.

“Apparently she wasn’t breathing and she’s 46 years old. The person who called me was irate and I couldn’t get much out of her,” the caller said, referencing an original notification received by Beverly Hilton staff from an unknown woman who repeatedly hung up before giving requested information.

The security member, who never identifies Whitney Houston by name, told the operator he was under the impression the woman was not breathing.

The 911 agent says emergency personnel would be dispatched to the hotel ASAP.

According to the final autopsy report, Whitney Houston’s official cause of death was “accidental drowning,” but heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors.

Police concluded the investigation into Whitney Houston’s death yesterday and determined that no crime had been committed.

Whitney Houston’s autopsy report has revealed that large parts of her skin were burnt off from the scalding hot bath in which she was found.

The shocking report states that Whitney Houston had patches of “skin slippage” from the hot water burns on several parts of her body.

It is thought that Whitney Houston could have been so out of it that she did not realize, or feel, how hot the water was. The bath water was 33°C (93.5°F) six hours after she died, showing how incredibly hot it would have been when she first got into it.

Whitney Houston was found face down and unresponsive in about 13 inches of water on February 11 and passed away at the age of 48.

The startling revelations of how badly damaged her body is an indication as to how much her lifestyle took a toll on her, leading to her untimely death. Some scars were recent – others from years of neglect.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s report shows that Whitney Houston had a perforated septum, likely to be from the large amounts of cocaine she consumed in her lifetime.

The singer also had scars and abrasions on her arms and legs and bruises on her shoulders and head.

Whitney Houston's autopsy report has revealed that large parts of her skin were burnt off from the scalding hot bath in which she was found

There were two scars under Whitney Houston’s breasts, believed to be from a breast augmentation procedure. It is also thought she had other cosmetic surgeries going by the marks on her stomach and upper thigh.

Whitney Houston was seen with blood dripping from her legs just a few days before she died after stumbling out of a nightclub in Los Angeles.

The autopsy report also showed that Whitney Houston was wearing a “maxillary dental prosthesis” and had 11 false teeth.

Her body was discovered face down in the bath tub, “her eyes were congested and there was a bloody purge coming from her nose”.

There was “superficial abrasions to the left side of her forehead and the bridge of her nose”. She also had cuts on her left arm, hand and shoulder.

It was a sordid end for the award-winning star, and officials insist there were absolutely no signs of foul play.

The report also confirms details of the drug paraphernalia found among Whitney Houston’s belongings.

There was a “spoon with a white crystal-like substance on it” and a “white powdery substance”, which was later tested and determined to be cocaine in the late singer’s hotel room.

The report, which gives a detailed description of the state of the Beverly Hilton hotel room when officials arrived, reads: “Located on the south portion of the counter was a small spoon with a white crystal-like substance in it and a rolled up piece of white paper, along with other miscellaneous items.”

“Located in the top drawer, in the north side of the counter were remnants of a white powdery substance, and a portable mirror on a base.”

Officials found more white powder on the base of the mirror.

The report also reveals the probable cause of death: “[Whitney Houston] possibly overdosed on a narcotic substance, prescription medications, over the counter medications and alcohol.”

It also notes that when officials discovered the body, Whitney Houston was wearing a brown wig “tightly attached to the hair”.

The wig was removed revealing a full head of wavy black hair with “no balding”.

Whitney Houston also had traces of marijuana in her system as well as Xanax (anxiety medication), Flexeril (muscle relaxer) and Benadryl (allergy medication).

The report also describes a plastic bag ripped open with pills spilling out, medication bottles and an ashtray with cigarette butts all over the place.

When Whitney Houston’s official cause of death was released in March her heart disease was mentioned, but the new detailed report also cites that she had a hole in her septum and that she was suffering from mild emphysema.

Kristy McCracken of the Beverly Hills Police Department also noticed an old needle puncture wound on Whitney Houston’s inner left elbow.

On the day she died, Whitney Houston complained of a sore throat, so she decided to take a bath in at her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton before getting ready for Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy party.

Cissy Houston has been left “devastated” and “inconsolable” over the L.A. County Coroner’s Autopsy Report that makes it clear Whitney Houston was deep into cocaine when she died.

Cissy Houston, 78, was telling close friends she cried hysterically when she first heard about the Coroner’s findings – that white powder (which was tested positive for cocaine), a drug spoon and other trappings of drug use were found in Whitney’s hotel room.

The officials do note that the water in the bath where Whitney Houston was found, with some evidence of trauma including a cut lip, was “extremely hot”.

Not surprisingly, Whitney Houston, who was due to attend her mentor Clive Davis’ Grammy Party at the same hotel that night, had scald marks on her back.

The report also confirms details of the drug paraphernalia found amidst the minutiae of the diva’s final hours.

There was a “spoon with a white crystal-like substance on it” and a “white powdery substance” which was later tested and determined to be cocaine in the late singer’s hotel room.

Singer Whitney Elisebeth Houston was pronounced dead at 15:55 but almost six hours later at twenty-five to ten at night, the temperature in the bathtub was still 93.5 F.

The level of Whitney Houston’s drug abuse was evident due to a “perforation of posterior nasal septum”.

The report also notes that when officials discovered the body, Whitney Houston was wearing a brown wig “tightly attached to the hair”.

The wig was removed revealing a full head of wavy black hair with “no balding”.

Whitney Houston also had traces of marijuana in her system as well as Xanax (anxiety medication), Flexeril (muscle relaxer) and Benadryl (allergy medication).

The singer’s assistant left Whitney Houston to run an errand at department store Neiman Marcus.

When the assistant returned to Whitney Houston’s room around 3:35 p.m. on Saturday February 11, the singer was lying face down in the bathtub in approximately 13-inches of water.

She was pulled out of the tub by her assistant and bodyguard so resuscitation attempts could be made.

Whitney Houston was found to be well-nourished, with a thick head of hair and scars from breast implant surgery.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Whitney Houston’s 19-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is facing intervention from her family and friends.

Bobbi Kristina Brown has allegedly turned to pills and marijuana to help her cope with the trauma of her mother’s death.

According to the Star magazine, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s aunt Pat Houston recently arranged for several close family members and friends of the youngster to speak to her about her substance use, but their words fell on deaf ears.

A source said: “Everyone is worried sick about Krissy … her aunt Pat got a number of her friends and family to come to Atlanta and have a serious talk with her about her sobriety. There were lots of tears, but Bobbi Kristina didn’t listen.”

Patricia Houston has even asked Whitney’s long-term mentor Clive Davis to speak to Bobbi Kristina- whose father is the late singer’s ex-husband Bobby Brown – about her problems.

The source added: “Clive keeps telling Bobbi she needs to go to rehab, and that if she does, he’ll help launch her music career. He’s doing everything he can.”

Whitney Houston died by drowning in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel suite, according to the LA coroner, but it was also determined that a non-lethal level of cocaine was found in her body, and that long-term cocaine abuse contributed to her death.

So far left unanswered is whether any illegal drugs were found at the scene, whether anybody from Whitney Houston’s entourage is suspected of cleaning up the area before paramedics arrived, and how she obtained the drugs.

“It’s still an open investigation for us,” Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen told People magazine when asked if cocaine was found in the hotel room.

“I can’t disclose any details about the investigation.”

Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter previously confirmed that prescription bottles were found at the scene but that the medications were “not in an alarming amount.” The coroner has not commented on whether illegal drugs were also found.

Whitney Houston, 48, was found unresponsive and underwater in the tub on February 11, a day before the Grammy Awards, and was pronounced dead at the scene soon afterward.

The star had a long and well-publicized battle with substance abuse and went into rehab several times, including a stint in May 2011 in an outpatient program for what her reps said was drug and alcohol treatment.

The coroner’s office on Thursday released only a brief synopsis of its findings. A full autopsy report, which typically includes details of what investigators find at the death scene and witness interviews, is expected in about two weeks.

What the coroner is announcing is that based on a February 12 autopsy and toxicology tests: “The final cause of death has been determined to be drowning (and) effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.”

Cocaine, according to the report, was “contributory to death.” Also found in her system were marijuana, Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and Benadryl, “but did not contribute to the death.”

The bottom line, according to the report: “No trauma or foul play is suspected.”

A preliminary toxicology report indicates Whitney Houston died due to a mix of prescription drugs, Valium and Xanax, and alcohol.

Final toxicology results will pinpoint the exact cause of death but the coroner confirms that the sedatives and alcohol combined is most likely the cause of death, not drowning.

The combination of Valium, Xanax and alcohol is said to have most likely caused Whitney Houston’s heart to stop beating due to the substances in her system inhibiting her breathing.

Thus, Whitney Houston’s death was not from drowning, although she was discovered submerged in a bathtub.

Whitney Houston was found submerged in the bathtub in her suite at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, just hours before she was to perform for Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party.

The final report will definitively determine exactly what amounts of substances and which drugs killed her.

Whitney Houston, 48, was found in the bathtub of her guest room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on the eve of the 54th Grammy Awards, February 11, 2012. She was pronounced dead at about 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.
