Melissa Rivers has announced in a brief statement on September 3 that her mother, Joan Rivers, has been moved into a private room and is “comfortable”.

“My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support,” Melissa Rivers wrote.

The update on Joan Rivers’ health condition came a day after Melissa Rivers said her mother remains on life support.

Joan Rivers, 81, was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York after she stopped breathing during throat surgery at her doctor’s office.

The comedienne was later placed in a medically-induced coma.

On September 2, Melissa Rivers wrote: “On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we’ve received. At this time she does remain on life support.”

“I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers.”
