Bruno Mars made the announcement during the broadcast of a NFL play-off game between the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.

Bruno Mars was named as headliner for the half-time show in September, which is now considered one of the most coveted spots in entertainment.

More than 110.5 million viewers watched last year’s broadcast from New Orleans, which featured Beyonce.

Beyonce was joined by fellow Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

They re-united for versions of Bootylicious, Independent Women Part I and Single Ladies.

Other recent half-time performers have been Madonna (2012), Black Eyed Peas with Usher and Slash (2011), The Who (2010) and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (2009).
