Australia: Strongbow’s glow-in-the-dark surf attempt at Bondi Beach

17 Strongbow-sponsored surfers took to the water for the largest ever glow-in-the-dark surf attempt in front of hundreds of fans who lined Bondi Beach in Australia.

Donning luminous-lined wetsuits and fluorescent-edged surfboards, they bottom turned and carved against the beautiful backdrop of the beach.

It was all caught on camera – from the air, land and sea – by legendary surfing filmakers and photographers Jack McCoy, Bali Strickland and Eugene Tan.

Jack McCoy said it was a “no-brainer” to take part in the start of summer event.

The filmmaker said: “When I heard about this crazy idea, I knew I had to be involved.

“I’ve never filmed anything like this in my 30 year career and it’s thanks to Strongbow that we had this great opportunity to mark summer in such an amazing, unique way.

“The surfers were so pumped about getting out there that the energy was electric. It’s one of those sights you have to see to believe and really evokes that summer feeling.”

The glow-in-the-dark surf attempt was part of the cider company Strongbow’s “Welcome to Summer” campaign.
