One passenger has starting collating photos of the funniest sleepers public transport can offer.

Twitter feed Sleepy Commuters publishes pictures of knackered workers snoring their way through journeys on trains, buses and Tubes.

Users are invited to share their best images of anyone they have caught napping.

Exhausted passengers are seen sleeping in a variety of extraordinary positions – slumped almost out of a seat, lying on the ground and even with a nose mashed against a pole.

Other entries include a man exposing his hairy stomach and another dozing with his head on a sleeping woman’s chest.

The brilliant photos show that if you are tired enough, you really will sleep anywhere.

One man manages to catch 40 winks despite having his head on the ground and his feet up in the air.

Another seems to be suspended between two sets of seats.

In one image, a transport worker is seen trying to wake a commuter who has collapsed on to the ground.

The page has gained more than 30,000 fascinated followers after just 43 tweets.

Its blurb simply reads: “All the best sleepy commuters in one place. Send us in your best pictures and they may be published – what’s not to like? Train, Bus, etc…”

Short, jokey comments are added to each photo, including “gold”, “oh dear” and “this is slightly strange”.

More worryingly, the sneaky photographers have occasionally gone further than just taking a picture.

In one image, posted along with the word “Hungry?”, a man is seeing pushing a sandwich into the face of a blissfully unaware napper.

So next time you feel your eyelids drooping, give yourself a shake – unless you want to end up as the unwitting star of the sleepy commuter show.

A “drunk” businessman, who was so determined to reach his platform at the London Underground, attempted to walk the wrong way down an escalator.

A fellow commuter captured this footage of the businessman, wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase, trying to ride down to the tube on an escalator moving upwards at Tottenham Court Road.

Despite moving absolutely nowhere, the unnamed man continues to take on the escalator with dogged determination.

And he keeps going even when several other passengers point out he is walking the wrong way.

One good Samaritan makes several attempts to lead him off the escalator but the businessman takes no notice and continues on his fruitless journey.

After struggling for more than two minutes as people push past – he is guided off by a helpful commuter who pushes the emergency stop button and points him in the right direction.

The incident was caught on camera last Friday by Sam Napper, 27, who described the man as a “drunk Japanese businessman”.

Sam, from London, said: “I was making my way home after dinner when we quite literally bumped into this chap on the escalators between the Northern and Central Lines at Tottenham Court Road station.

“At first I thought he was playing silly buggers with a few of his FX Trader mates but then we saw his dogged stagger and realized he was alone.

“One by one, concerned commuters tried to steer him in the right direction, to no avail.

“Eventually, someone pushed the emergency stop button.

“After pausing for a few seconds, he turned around and walked out, as if nothing ever happened, saying nothing, leaving us stunned.”
