I want to know how much they raised in 2012. I did not watch the telethon, and I won’t. Jerry Lewis made that show. Because of him, they were able to raise the money they did. I gave every single year. That was my charity to give to. Now, after 33 years, I won’t.
Of course the money raised went down, the economy has sucked. But, he still raised millions. I don’t know of any other fundraiser like that besides the Race for the Cure. MDA business people, you made a bad mistake.

This dude is a joke. His arms are not the results of “dedication” he jsut injects them with synthol. And please, don’t refer to him as a bodybuilder, he’s far from it. He’s not even that much in shape. He has the body of a regular joe, I doubt he works 3 hours a day twice a day. What a disgrace to all real bodybuilders.

Sounds like you have a bunch of “young liberal punks” running MDA who obviously weren’t around when Jerry started making MDA what it is today. Then, they said “the Sept. 4 event would be shepherded by entertainment personalities Nigel Lythgoe, Jann Carl, Alison Sweeney and Nancy O’Dell.”

Who are these people??? Never heard of them!

I am commenting because I am concerned about Jerry the last time I seen him he did’nt look very good, my main concern is; is jerrys health failing ? Its understandable he’s been doing the telethon for many years, infact I watched it when I was a young girl, and he always gave me hope for that there would a cure for MDA ! It up sets me that there are people out there so up set because Jerry did not host the thelethon, but they never gave a second thought that maybe Jerry is unable to host because of his health condition , I mean the last telethon on labor day 2010 .I am sorry Jerry, but you looked horriable then,and I felt so bad for you !. You had all you could do to host it. But getting back to today people need to stop and wait to see if Jerrys okay ,before you start disrepecting a strong man with such a big HEART then all of us put together, for doing what he has done for thousands of children and adults with MDA for so manys years, no not years, for decades !!. so start showing some RESPECT for MR JERRY LEWIS. I love you jerry may god bless you !.

MDA didn’t realize the good thing they had when Jerry Lewis hosted. He’s the one that really made the positive difference. Without him, the telethon is lifeless. They took the heart away.

It’s a real shame to see this story as my grandad is a resident in Port Elizabeth and we always go to Kragger Kamma and go to stroke these tame cheetahs. We had been told that they like to play with adults, they never go for the children. It’s a shame this happened and I hope Violet and everyone involved recovers fully. But I will say please don’t let this put you off Kragger Kamma it’s a stunning safari park, and their cheetahs are beautiful. Sadly though out of instinct they can play with humans like they themselves are other cheetahs and don’t realise when they hurt them.

I wish Jerry Lewis was still with the MDA, But I do understand that he retired, but to call this a Telethon, is crazy, this is not a Telethon, its a three hour show to hope and raise money for Mda. They could of still had a Telethon with new hosts and all the great things that Jerry brought to the Telethon, and still called it MDA Telethon. Jerry Lewis and ED Mcmann (sorry for wrong spelling) Helped raise Millions, and help alot of people…. to me Labor Day I always looked forward to watching for hours and at times stood up the whole 14.5 hrs and doing my part in donations, they put on a great show to enjoy and help. I just wish they would still have a telethon to honor Jerry and to show that even with out Jerry you could still put on a great show………. I am disapointed I saw the MDA show its not the same, but I did help Jerrys kids like always, but still want a show and the Board to show what we have done in donations,

Without all the relevant facts and details I can’t say what’s the right thing to do here. But, here are my thoughts. I am coming from concern. As I said , no, I don’t have details that would only be known to her children. If your mom was neglectful or abusive and she has no remorse, well, that’s a different story.

But, I do believe compassion goes a real long way. Your mom, Demi, needs love, compassion and support — not abandonment.

You never know in 20 or so years … one of you could wind up just like mom some day and have an emotional breakdown. Would you want your children to desert you? Would you want to be judged and abandoned?

Was she a good mother before her divorce, considering no one is perfect — not even moms?

You are not perfect either, and if you have children, when they grow up, your children may someday say unkind things about you. Maybe instead of being compassionate, they will abandon you. You may want to consider all of this. Love, compassion and kindness go a long, long way.

Love, compassion, empathy and open communication are all key.
