Courtney Stodden has offered some advice to Modern Family star Ariel Winter after the latter’s mother claimed the young actress was becoming involved with an 18-year-old.
Courtney Stodden, 18, who married actor Doug Hutchison, 51, when she was just 16, was asked if she had any advice for Ariel Winter if the accusation is true.
Not realizing who the star was at first, her husband explained all to a disorientated seeming Courtney Stodden before the Radar Online crew explained the age gap love affair allegation.
That caught Courtney Stodden’s attention who can be seen in a video of the conversation in a bright red dress answering brightly: “I think that’s amazing, they should get married!”
Ariel Winter’s mother Chrystal Workman has denied physically abusing her daughter and claims the youngster is lying because her mother would not let her engage in a sexual act with the 18-year-old man.
Workman claims that she caught Ariel Winter in bed “engaging in behavior” that she feels was inappropriate for her young age and as her mother, she just wants to protect her.
While Chrystal Workman has not identified the identity of Ariel Winter’s 18-year-old boyfriend, she has filed a report with the LA County Sheriff’s Department that could open an investigation of statutory rape.
Ariel Winter’s mother released a statement on Thursday that said: “My fourteen-year-old daughter has been dating an eighteen-and-a-half-year-old man, and when I caught them engaging in behavior that I feel my daughter is too young mentally and physically to understand and fully grasp I put a stop to it immediately.”
She continued: “I love my daughter very much. I would never abuse her in anyway and I have always tried my best to always protect her and do what is right for her.”
The incident report states that Chrystal Workman caught Ariel Winter in bed with her boyfriend on 24 September at around 10:00 p.m.
She added: “Because legally he is an adult and if he wants to engage in adult behavior with a minor than he should also be ready to suffer adult consequences for his actions.”
According to TMZ, Chrystal Workman did not file the report until two weeks after the alleged incident had happened, and that was five days after she lost custody of her daughter.
Earlier this week, Chrystal Workman hit back at allegations contained in a guardianship petition filed last month in Los Angeles by Ariel Winter’s 34-year-old sister, Shanelle.
Chrystal Workman told People magazine: “It’s all untrue, it’s all untrue.”
She added: “I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused.… I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused.”
Ariel Winter’s brother Jimmy Workman has supported his mother in the wake of the claims, telling Us Weekly: “There is no truth to these allegations.”
A judge ordered Chrystal Workman to stay away and have no contact with her daughter until a November 20 hearing.
Ariel Winter’s sister, also a TV actress, was appointed as a temporary guardian but does not have access to Winter’s earnings, according to the judge’s order.
Ariel Winter, who started acting in films and TV shows at age seven, currently plays Alex Dunphy on the hit ABC comedy.
She has appeared in several TV series, including ER and Phineas and Ferb, and movies such as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Ice Age: The Meltdown and ParaNorman.
