The Sonne Mond Sterne Festival (SMS) is a large open-air festival of electronic music which has been held in Germany since 1997. In the first year the festival was free and about two thousand five hundred people attended it. Since then the event grew and in 2009 it had about one hundred thousand festival-goers. Usually, the main themes are rock and pop, and some of the biggest stars in electronic music are invited.

This year the SMS. X5 festival will have a number of venues: SMS. X5 main stage, SMS. X5 main circus, SMS. X5 second stage, clubtents (Dusted Decks/City of Music, Muna, Cocoon, Bass’n'Drums), beech bar Bar 25 and SMS. Boat.

SonneMondSterne 2011 will have a lot of live shows performed by various artists.
